Our mission is to promote culturally responsive education among African American women to reduce the burden of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

Did you know ?


  • Only 1 in 5 African American women believes that she is personally at risk for cardiovascular disease.


  • Only 58% of African American women are aware of the signs and symptoms of a heart attack.

In comparison to 65% of white women, only 36% of Black women are aware of cardiovascular disease being among their most significant health risks.

Did you know ?

  • More than 40% of non-Hispanic blacks have high blood pressure, which is more severe in blacks than whites, and develops earlier in life. This little known fact is something that, if known -can be treated in advance.


  • 57.6% of Black women have hypertension — more than any other race or ethnicity.
